Sodium Octanoate, also name Sodium caprylate, is prepared from caprylic acid which is acomponent of coconut and palm oils. white crystals or crystalline powder appearance, the salt precipitates ascream-colored granules that are soluble in water and sparinglysoluble in alcohol.

Applications of Sodium octanate

1)In the pharmaceutical industry, Sodium octanate is used topically to treat superficialdermatomycoses caused by Candida albicans, Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton.

2)Sodium octanate is used as a protein stabilizer in biological preparations. Sodium Octanoate is added to the culture medium when breeding bacteria that can degrade caprylic acid.

3)In the chemistry field, Sodium octanate can be used for decarboxylation reaction to produce high purity N-heptane.
