N-methylglucamine Meglumine 6284-40-8

Meglutamine (N-methyl-D-glumine) is a balanced ion widely used to improve drug solubility. It is an amino sugar source of sorbitol with a pKa value of 9.6. Glucosamine is widely used, especially for all weak acidic drugs with pKa values between 2-7. Glucosamine is increasingly being used as an alternative to sodium because it has a similar permeability and ion radius and does not pass through the cell membrane.

Compared with sodium salt, its high dissocation in the body can significantly improve the bioavailability of the main drug, and can completely avoid the toxicological effects of sodium salt. In terms of drug stability, glucameamine avoids the leakage of impurities from glass packaging in the process of direct contact with the cladding, and has been shown to absorb the degradation-produced formaldehyde in formulations containing microcrystalline cellulose, lactose, glycol, and magnesium stearate.

Meglumine chemistry is called N-methylglucamine, white to faintly yellowish-white crystals or powder. Melting point of 128-129 ℃. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol (25 ℃ in 100 ml of ethanol soluble 1.2 g, 70 ℃ when soluble 21 g), almost insoluble in chloroform. The taste is sweet and salty. Meglumine is an amino sugar derived from sorbitol. Meglumine can enhance the lipid soluble of adenosine cyclic phosphate,so that it can play a maximum pharmacological role.
