Phycocyanin is a nature and water-soluble blue pigment extracted from spirulina.non-toxic, pure blue, clear and lovelyusually also classified into C-phycocyanin and R-phycocyanin. The former is mainly present in cyanobacteria, while the latter is mainly present in red algae, both of which are present in cryptophyta. It is also one of the rare pigment proteins in nature. It is not only bright in color, but also a nutritious protein with complete amino acid composition. it has been widely used as high-grade natural pigments in food and cosmetics. 

Note    
Color value (10E618nm)=Absorhance(at 618nm)x100/ 0.33g Measure 0.3g of Phycocyanin and dissolve it in to the 100ml of the buffer solution adjusted PH6.  Using volumetric flask correctly. Then dilute the solution 10times and measure the absorbance at 618nm using the cell which is 1cm in thickness.
